Explore secret papyrus-fringed channels and islands by mokoro, leaving barely a whisper of your presence. On game drives, scout for giraffes, zebras, elephants, impalas, tsessebe, lechwe, wildebeest, buffalos, hyaenas, leopards, warthogs, lions. Listen for the latter’s stirring call at night. Take a guided nature walk to appreciate the local flora, smaller creatures, and fantastic natural mosaic that is the Okavango Delta. Soar into the skies for an aerial safari, flying to the legendary Tsodilo Hills to marvel at ancient San rock art. Enjoy an evening in the bush, dining on tapas, watching a film under the stars, or sharing stories around the fire. Slide into a steaming bath by candlelight in your private outdoor copper tub and dream away.
Abu’s home is the 180 000-hectare Abu Private Reserve (APR), one of the largest exclusive protected areas in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. A vast, richly diverse area with a remarkable mosaic of habitats, abundance of wildlife, and iconic Delta landscapes, panoramas of palm-studded islands and grassy floodplains, seasonally inundated with pure, crystal-clear water descending from the Angolan highlands.
Abu is set in a pristine riverine forest, seamlessly blending in with the magnificent hardwood trees. It’s an architectural marvel, with roofs peaking like sails and a cascade of teak decks. Each of the six luxurious suites has its own distinctive furnishings and fittings, featuring an indoor and outdoor shower, outdoor bath, and a plunge pool sunk into the elevated deck. The tents as well as the main areas – the multi-decked lounge and dining area, well-stocked library and study, and pool – overlook a large lagoon, frequented by wildlife.
